Playing on the courts for love
We attended university in Australia. Although we didn’t go to the same university, we would often meet up with mutual friends to play badminton. Once, by chance, we were divided into the same team, and we became closer after training together. Love slowly crept up on us, and sometimes we’d secretly attend each other’s classes, or go for study dates at the library. We cooked together, we travelled together; anything that meant spending more time with each other was a blessing. When she smiles, it’s like a flower bursting into full bloom. I want to be the one who hears her beautiful voice first thing in the morning, and so, during a trip to Jeju Island, Korea, I told her my intentions. She smiled, and nodded “Yes, I do”.
For our pre-wedding shoot, we chose to return to Jeju in search of that very spot where she said yes. Along the way, cherry blossom trees flaunted their delicate petals, and wildflowers surrounded every inch of ground we stepped on. I remember standing underneath a majestic cherry blossom tree with its snowy pink petals gently drifting in the wind, lying amidst a sea of bright yellow wildflowers, even horseback riding along the beach and seeking comfort in each other’s arms at the foot of a mountain… The weather was chilly, but our hearts were warm. With our photographer acting as ‘director’, each click of the shutter made us smile in anticipation of our life as husband and wife.
