If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes
Love works in mysterious ways – it came full circle for us, even after so long. 11 years ago, he told me how he felt, but I was seeing someone else. 6 years ago, he tried again after finding out that I was single. More than once, he appeared in my life, making breakfast for me, sending me to the office, waiting for me to finish work and accompanying me. For the first time, I felt like I was appreciated and truly loved. When he told me he wanted to grow old with me, I said yes without any hesitation.
I’ve watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Interstellar more times than I can remember, mainly for the beautiful locations, which were shot in Iceland. Naturally, going to Iceland was something I’d had on my bucket list for a long time. He brought me there, and in the wee hours of the night, we were lucky enough to catch two glimpses of the Aurora Borealis. At the Skogafoss Waterfall, we came across a rainbow. We got caught in the rain, but the next minute, the sun came out yet again. On the black beach at Sólheimasandur, we saw the crash site of the United States Navy Douglas DC-3 airplane which crashed in 1973, yet miraculously, all its passengers survived. Yes, I was lucky to have seen all this in Iceland.
This magical trip, with its one-of-a-kind experiences, made up for the extreme cold and tiny mishaps we faced. Our photographer was indeed a champ, and our makeup artist a darling – if not for the team, we wouldn’t have such a wonderful wedding album. The Vikings who discovered Iceland once said, “If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes.” It’s true. Be patient, and you’ll be able to see the Northern Lights of happiness sweeping across the sky.
